RANDWICK PARK

“For those that don’t know Citycare Open Spaces actually subcontract a not-for-profit social enterprise in Randwick which is a suburb in Manurewa. The social enterprise is called Stepping Stones and they maintain all of the parks in Randwick on behalf of Citycare.

The work they do is edging, gardening, mowing and loose litter. The idea of Stepping Stones is to give local people, local jobs. Everyone who works for Stepping Stones lives in Randwick. This gives locals, local employment opportunities, which creates small stepping stones into employment. Since they have been a subcontractor for Citycare there have been success stories of people starting out at Stepping Stones to become a lawyer, primary school teacher and a drain layer.

The two people in the photographs is David and Andre who were gardening at the time of my visit and they take great pride in maintaining Randwick not only that but they had very positive personalities. Kudos to them, Dave Timms (Founder of Stepping Stones) and Francois Viljoen (Stepping Stones Manager). Keep up the great work.”

Randwick Parks New Playground
I tēnei ata i te Rāhina i whakamoemiti mātou i te papa takaro hou kei Randwick Park.

It was a special morning today where Rangi McLean blessed our new playground that has just been built beside our beautiful building Manu Tukutuku …Randwick Park Sports and Neighbourhood Centre.

A massive thanks to The community of Randwick Park, the children of Randwick Park School involved in the design, the Randwick Park Residents Association, the youth leaders, DIA, our Manurewa Local Board Chair Angela Dalton and Councillor Daniel Newman who have stood beside our community to advocate for our park, skate park, building and finally our playground. Blessings and Thanks To You All who have been part of this journey.
