UNOH Apprentice – Randwick Park, South Auckland
Pauline Jones has lived in Randwick Park for over 20 years and is deeply woven into the fabric of the community. She is in her first year as a UNOH apprentice, though her life and faith have long reflected the heart of the movement. We honour and remember her husband, Larry, who passed away in 2018. Pauline continues to live with two of her three adult children.
Pauline has felt a strong calling from God to connect with her neighbours and care for the land through growing food. Over the past few years, she has transformed her front lawn into thriving raised vegetable gardens and invites neighbours to help care for them. As she gardens alongside others, Pauline often finds herself listening to their stories, praying with them, and sharing in their joys and sorrows.
Her passion for growing food is contagious. Pauline regularly builds raised garden beds at neighbours’ homes—often using reclaimed timber like old fence panels. Through her initiative, she has received donations from Bunnings and CityCare and built a grassroots network of friends who supply her with seedlings and compost.
Pauline’s love for Jesus shines through everything she does. She shares her faith freely and joyfully, and her strong, resilient trust in God has carried her through many hard seasons. Pauline is a taonga—a treasure to the UNOH whānau and a gift to the wider neighbourhood of Randwick Park.
